Canon History
Very few people known about Canon history, but
as this world renown company grows, more and more individuals
and businesses are learning about Canon products and using them.
The definition of Canon is "criterion or standard of judgment."
Since 1937, Canon has been relentless in setting worldwide standards
for quality and evolving technology. Around 1962, Canon conducted
research into using lasers to write text, and applied for related
patents to market such products. In 1971 Canon Business Machines,
Inc. and Canon Sales Company, Inc. were established (U.S.A.).
In 1975, Canon was successful in developing the
laser beam printer and during the latter part of the 1970s, engineers
at Canon's Product Technology Research Institute were looking
toward newer printing technologies for copying machines. They
succeeded by developing the world's first Bubble Jet printing
method in 1981. In August of 1982, the PC-10 and PC-20, the world's
first personal copying machines with replaceable cartridges was
introduced. These personal-use copying machines integrated the
replaceable all-in-one cartridge mechanism, the world's first
three-color system, and other accumulated know-how, together with
a number of new key technologies. What has followed is newer innovative
technologies that reflect the amazing corporate spirit and work
ethic known to Canon.
The Bubble Jet
Canon is well known for their Bubble Jet technology used in their
printers. Canon has continued to make refinements on their initial
Bubble Jet printer of 1981, and unveiled the BJ-80 Bubble Jet
printer four years later, in 1985. This huge technological development
was the best "product" to use for the next eight years.
The basics of the Bubble Jet is that ink droplets are dispensed
when activated by heat.
Constantly evolving, Canon recently outdid itself
once again. They have created MicroFine Droplet Technology. This
is the latest generation of Bubble Jet technology, producing even
finer graphics at photo quality. Canon is involved in various
environmental issues and they have made it easy on both the environment
and customers by making it so that customers can utilize refillable
